Title:
William Rothenstein Collection
Dates:
1918-1943, undated
Extent:
2 boxes (.84 linear feet)
Abstract:
Includes manuscripts and letters written by the English artist William Rothenstein.
Dominant are manuscript versions of his Men of the R. A. F. (1942) and related correspondence. Because his poor health kept him from going abroad
as a war artist, Rothenstein instead made portrait drawings of airmen at RAF bases
in England for this book. Letters from Rothenstein to Joseph Maunsell Hone, Harold
Monro, Grant Richards, Elizabeth Robins, and Henry Tonks are also included.
