This collection consists of the files rare book dealer J. Howard Woolmer maintained
on authors Sebastian Barry and Penelope Fitzgerald. The files are primarily
correspondence concerning the sale and transport of the authors' manuscript
collections to the Harry Ransom Center. Woolmer was friendly with both of his
clients and continued to correspond with them after he brokered the sales of their
collections. In the case of Fitzgerald, Woolmer continued to correspond with family
members after her death, and contributed to research for biographies.
