                correspondence by the English novelist, playwright, and short story author W.
                Somerset Maugham. Works include his early novel, <title xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" render="italic" xlink:href="">The
                    Merry-go-Round</title> (1904), and other seminal works such as <title xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" render="italic" xlink:href="">Cakes and Ale</title> (1930) and <title xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" render="italic" xlink:href="">The Moon
                    and Sixpence</title> (1919). Maugham's letters to Barbara Back, Reginald Golding
                Bright, Paul Dottin, Charles Frohman, various family members (including nephew Robin
                Maugham), Karl Graham Pfeiffer, James B. Pinker, and Gladys Bronwyn Stern
