				his family, and snapshots of various friends and associates, cowboys, and other
				people. Many of the photographs were taken in Texas, including Paisano Ranch and
				other Dobie family ranches and residences.</abstract>

			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>The J. Frank Dobie Literary File consists of approximately 3,900 photographs, many of
				which are portraits of Dobie throughout his life, both alone and with others. There
				are also images of his wife, Bertha McKee, other members of the Dobie family,
				members of the Byler and Dubose families, various friends and associates, cowboys,
				and other people. In addition, the file contains views of various places in Texas,
				including Paisano Ranch and other Dobie family ranches and residences. Other states
				represented in the file include Montana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. There are also
				numerous views of Mexico, chiefly from Dobie’s travels there, and a few of
				Cambridge, England.</p>
			<p>This collection forms part of the Literary File Photograph Collection, which is
				comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of
				literary figures, and generally include portraits and images collected by or of
				those figures.</p>
