      <abstract label="Abstract:" encodinganalog="520$a">This collection contains the handwritten manuscript for <emph render="italic">In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do?</emph> (1897), written by the American Congregationalist minister Charles M. Sheldon, who was a leader in the Social Gospel movement. The manuscript indicates that it was read to his congregation at Central Church in Topeka, Kansas on Sundays between October 4 and December 20, 1896. Also present is the pen holder used for this and two of his other works according to an accompanying note by Sheldon, both given to his son Merriam in 1911.</abstract>
