The papers of American journalist and
historian William Weber Johnson for his book, Kelly Blue
(1960), concern the life of Harold Osman Cowboy Kelly
(1884-1955), an Ohio native who became a notable American primitive or folk painter in
Texas. Along with the typescript for Kelly Blue are Johnson’s
research materials, largely transcriptions of Kelly’s letters and his
reminiscences.
