The John Cowper Powys Literary File Photography Collection consists of 277 photographic
prints and negatives, including images of Powys, his parents, several of his siblings
(Albert Reginald, Gertrude, Llewelyn, Philippa, Theodore Francis, and William), and various
other people. Over one third of the items are images associated with a 1957 edition of
Somerset and Dorset Essays by Llewelyn Powys. There are also images of Llewelyn Powys' death
mask and views of his house, as well as photographic prints and negatives removed from his
correspondence. An index at the end of this guide lists photographers whose work is featured
in this file. Further descriptions of some items may be available in a card catalog in the
repository.

This file forms a part of the Literary Files Photography Collection that is comprised of
photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures, and
generally includes portraits and images collected by or of those figures.
