Photographic Views of Bristol and Clifton (Chester: Catherall & Prichard, ca. 1868) is a photographically illustrated book containing ten albumen prints by Francis Bedford (British, 1815/1816–1894), made ca. 1865. The volume is bound in red cloth with blind-stamped decoration, gilt-stamped title and border, and all edges gilt. The photographs are topographical, depicting the natural landscapes and architectural landmarks of Bristol and nearby Clifton, including the cathedral, churches, bridges, and the surrounding townscape. The volume is part of the Gernsheim Collection, purchased in 1963. |
