Description:

Photographic Views of North Wales (Chester: Catherall & Prichard, ca. 1868) is a photographically illustrated book containing thirty albumen prints by Francis Bedford (British, 1815/1816–1894), made between 1859 and ca. 1868. The volume is bound in green pebbled cloth with black embossed decorative borders and gilt-stamped title; all edges gilt. The front pastedown bears the ownership label of Joseph Hebblethwaite. The photographs are topographical, depicting the natural landscapes and architectural landmarks of North Wales, including castles, bridges, towns, rivers, lakes, and mountains. The volume is part of the Gernsheim Collection, purchased in 1963.
