The collection consists of 47 photographs by John F. W. (John Frederick William) Herschel (English, 1792-1871), the bulk of which were made using experimental processes including chrysotype (4), cyanotype (12), thermo-cyanotype (1), kelaenotype (8), anthotype (15), and argentotype (3). Also present is a varnished engraving with corresponding cyanotype and salted paper prints, both printed from the engraving. Lastly, there is a special edition, gelatin silver print made in 1890 from Herschel's original 1839 calotype of the Slough telescope. Select item-level information follows.
