Description:

The collection consists of 39 gelatin silver prints by Myron Wood (American, 1921-1999). The images, which are all signed by Wood, were taken between 1958 and 1981, and printed between 1964 and 1985. The photographs are from various series including: "Texas," "Aerial Photographs," "Hispanic Southwest," "Native American Southwest," and "Georgia O’Keeffe, New Mexico." The majority of photographs are from the "Hispanic Southwest" and "Native American Southwest" series, many of which were taken in and around Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, and Colorado.

Subjects include interior and exterior architecture, landscapes, a few portraits including one of Roy Stryker, and a rare group portrait of members of Los Hermanos de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in 1976. The verso of this print bears the following inscription by Wood: “1st photograph of the Penitentes in a meeting house of theirs of their own volition.”

The eight photographs from the "Georgia O’Keeffe, New Mexico," series, taken between 1980 and 1981 and printed in 1984, do not include portraits of O’Keeffe. Instead they focus on the gardens, studio spaces, and architecture of O’Keeffe’s home in Abiquiu, New Mexico.

The "Texas" series is represented by five photographs of urban landscapes, architecture, and people.

Only two photographs represent the "Aerial Photographs" series, both of which are landscapes of Colorado. Print titles follow.
