The collection consists of seven studio portrait photographs of Native Americans taken by Charles Pyke. A letter accompanying the photographs identifies the subjects as members of the Wichita Nation, including Qsa-Hi-Wa-Ski-A-Gu-Na-Ur-I-Sa (Morning Star Spirit) (circa 1873-1944), also known as Burgess Hunt, and Hidi-Tsi-A-Sis (Attracts All Attention), also known as John Tatum (born circa 1875). The time period represented is circa 1898. |
