The John Christian Photography Collection of Indigenous People of Central Mexico is comprised of 815 images of indigenous communities in Mexico, consisting of 20 boxes of color slides and fifteen 8 x 10 black & white portraits with captions on their versos. The collection documents the festivals, palmwork, musicians, processions, typical markets, domestic life, etc. of the Nahuatl, Otomi, and Huastec communities in Queretaro, Mexico; Dance of the Conquest, Xitales Dancers; Actopan, Hidalgo Market; Haustec market; and Nahut Indians. Includes copies and clippings of articles on Christian's research and a paper which catalogs the slides. Time period represented 1969. |
