Description:

The collection is comprised of 443 photographs of and related to World War I and were primarily taken during in France during the war. Box 1 contains mostly aerial images of countrysides, cities, and towns. Boxes 2, 3, and 4 contain photographs of buildings, war damage and ruins, military equipment, landscapes, posed portraits of military units, and a few additional aerial shots. Two oversize prints are located in Box 5. Most of the photographs are captioned, and several are credited to the Fifth Photo Section, U.S. Army Air Service, but many of the photographers are uncredited.
