Description: |
The collection consists of materials, which were withdrawn from the Frederic Allen Williams Papers and Photography Collection (PH-00376), that relate to William's aunt, Sarah Williams, and date from circa 1860 to 1936. Included are portraits from Sarah Williams’ childhood in Albany, New York, her college days at Wellesley, and her career as a teacher. The collection also contains portraits of her college classmates, portraits of family members (including several of F. A. Williams as a young boy), snapshots of family outings and vacations, and photographs taken and purchased during her travels to Europe. Purchased materials include a package of collotypes of Scotland titled Twenty Views of the Land of Scott, and a film strip titled Pendleton Round-Up Series I (Rock Island, IL: Tru-Vue, Inc., 1936) that contains photographs by Ralph Vincent of the 1932 and 1936 Pendleton (Oregon) Round-Ups. Photographic formats represented in the collection include: cartes-de-visite (51), cabinet cards (43), gelatin silver prints (23), tintypes (21), collotypes (20), cyanotypes (17), albumen prints (9), ambrotypes (7), platinum prints (3), silhouettes (2), daguerreotypes (1), and film strips (1).
