Description:

The collection, which forms a part of the Gottesman Collection of Judaica and Hebraica, consists of twenty photographs that were taken in Palestine, Jerusalem, Syria, and elsewhere in the Middle East. Included are formally posed studio portraits, candid photographs taken outdoors, landscapes, cityscapes and architecture. The photographs were likely date from circa 1870 to circa 1890, and they are mounted on pages likely from a disbound album. Item-level information follows.
