The collection consists of 660 gelatin silver prints by Todd Webb (American, 1905-2000). The majority of the photographs document nineteenth century architecture across the state of Texas and were created as part of the Texas Architectural Survey. The project was initiated by the Amon Carter Museum in 1964, and the photographs were taken between 1964 and 1966. Forty-two of the photographs were reproduced in Texas Homes of the Nineteenth Century (Austin: University of Texas Press, 1966), a copy of which is located in the Center's library (call number q NA 7235 T4 A54 HRC-P). Other photographs were reproduced in Texas Public Buildings of the Nineteenth Century (Austin: University of Texas Press, 1974), also available in the Center's library (call number NA 730 T5 R62 HRC-P).

The photographs are organized by county and were photographed primarily by Todd Webb. The photographs range from interior and exterior shots of old homes to log houses, barns, ranches and jail houses.
