Description:

The collection consists ollection consists of 180 photographs from the book The Wind that Swept Mexico: The History of the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1942 by Anita Brenner with photographs assembled by George R. Leighton. These are mounted photographs of the Mexican Revolution and follow the order in which they are presented in the book. Subjects include posed portraits of dignitaries, images of Mexican villages, town life, street scenes, cityscape, architecture, political assemblies and revolutionaries.

958:0074:0001-0025 -- Dignitary portraits, and photographs of architecture and street scenes;
958:0074:0026-0049 -- Photographs of the rich and powerful lives of Mexican dignitaries, including cottages (haciendas) and casinos;
958:0074:0050-0073 -- Photographs documenting decadence and political oppression, with pictures of mounted revolutionaries and dead men in the streets;
958:0074:0074-0097 -- Photographs of revolutionary acts, including soldiers, dead men, and people camped on the top of a train;
958:0074:0098-0124 -- Photographs of the poor population and negotiations after the revolution;
958:0074:0125-0147 -- Photographs of the days following revolution including scenes of vacationing people, construction, and a firing squad;
958:0074:0148-01XX -- Photographs of the poor, towns surrounded by oil derricks, and a communist party march;
958:0074:01XX-0180 -- Photographs of politicians, assemblies, and a church.
