Description:

Harry Pennington, Jr. (American, 1910-1975) was a freelance photojournalist from San Antonio, Texas. His career spanned from 1934 to 1959, and his work appeared in Life, Collier’s, Saturday Evening Post, and Newsweek. The collection documents social, economic, and political concerns, including community health, slum conditions, the oil and gas industry, and the migration of illegal aliens. The archive is comprised of the following.

Approx. 25,000 negatives;
1 clippings book;
46 reels of 16mm film (positives and negatives);
3 reels of 35mm film;
Approximately 150 periodicals which include his photographs;
1 aerial camera from circa 1945;
32 original prints and transparencies.
