The collection belonged to the Reverend Simond Forster, who lived in San Antonio, Texas, until the 1950s. Rev. Forster was a Catholic priest who moved to San Antonio after he contracted tuberculosis. It is said the scenes and photographs were made by Forster in and around the New Braunfels area from circa 1900 to circa 1920. The 14 silver gelatin prints and 22 4x5-inch glass negatives that comprise the collection depict various people, places, and activities in and around New Braunfels, Texas, including ladies playing tennis in dresses, a horse and buggy ride, a religious shrine, and a large group posed at a dinner table. |
