Goldbeck was the son of renowned panoramic photographer E. O. (Eugene Omar) Goldbeck (1892-1986) who he began working for as early as 1942. The majority of the negatives are of of high school graduating classes, bands, choirs, and other school groups from across the state of Texas. A few schools in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico are also represented. The negatives are housed in their original boxes that usually contain two negatives of the same subject and are differentiated with an "A" or a "B" after the negative number to indicate whether or not the subjects are smiling ("B") or not ("A").
