The collection consists of photographs and pieces of photographic technology taken and/or collected by Charles M. Woodman. The time period represented is circa 1850 to circa 1900. Photographers found within the collection: T. M. Swem, J. H. Wightman, and Charles M. Woodman. Included are: 3 gelatin silver negatives on glass, 1 gelatin silver print, 9 cellulose nitrate film negatives (997:0059:0078-0086), 1 exposure meter (housed with other photo equipment), 1 color type C print, 1 autographic negative with associated description written by Woodman(?), 2 photocards, 24 tintypes (982:0079:0025-0048), 1 ambrotype (997:0053:0001), 20 postcards, 77 dry plate negatives (997:0059:0001-0077), 2 daguerreotypes (982:0079:0049-0050), and four glass negatives (980:0061:0001-0004) from a Baby Wizard Camera (980:0014:0009) also in the collection.

Subjects include many formal family portraits, farm scenes, single portraits and microscope images of plant species. The postcards are primarily of the Palace at Versailles and I.G. Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft, Frankfurt-am-Main.
