The Hugo L. Summerville and Charles Steele Negatives Collection forms a small but significant part of the E. O. Goldbeck Papers and Photography Collection. The collection consists of 757 panoramic nitrate negatives, which date from the 1910s through the 1940s, acquired by Goldbeck from Hugo L. Summerville (American, 1885-1948) and Charles Steele (American, active circa 1910s). Subjects include groups of people; businesses; views of San Antonio; schools; churches; conventions and other events; farms; hospitals; oil fields; the military and general Texas scenery. Reference prints made by the Ransom Center are available for 63 of the negatives.
