Photographic album of the Franco-German war compiled by Edward Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 1st Earl of Wharncliffe (British, 1827-1899) containing 39 mounted albumen photographs. Helmut Gernsheim notes: "1.1 photographs, formerly in the possession of Lord Wharncliffe. Mostly about 8 x 10, but also including a number of half and quarter-plate photographs of the battle fronts and towns around which the most heated battles were fought ... many other unique documentary action photographs." Original handwritten captions by Lord Wharncliffe.
