"As the Pencil and the Pen which have composed the present volume, belong to different hands, he who has guided the latter desires to say, that unless encouraged so to do by the accomplished lady (J.B.) by whom the Drawing were designed, he would rather have abstained from ... adding any explanatory or other Letterpress, to what is so clearly and skillfully expressed in the Photographed Illustrations ...--J.W."
