Description: |
Photograph album of containing 17 mounted albumen prints. Inscribed by Helmut Gernsheim: "17 photographs, 17 x 11 1/2 in. taken in the mid and late 1860's [sic] of bridges over the Rhine in Germany and Holland, the Waal, and the Elbe at Hamburg. Several of the bridges were destroyed by the Allies or the retreating Germans during World War II." Many of the photographs are accompanied by inscriptions also made by Gernsheim. The album bears the armorial bookplate of Archibald D. Dawbay. |
