Description:

Photograph album containing 120 mounted albumen photographs of an artillery drill taking place at Woolwich. Per the inscription on the title page, the photographs were "printed by the photographic establishment of the War Department." The name of the photographer(s) is not known. The title page and the page following include an inscribed index of the various parts of the drill illustrated. Chemical dept., Royal Arsenal. The album contains the armorial bookplate of the Duke of Connaught. Inscribed by Helmut Gernsheim: "Presentation copy to the Duke of Connaught; 3 photos. removed for exhibition and loosely inserted."
