Titled Pictures from Life in Field and Fen (London
; G. Bell and Sons, 1887), this is a leather-bound, gold-embossed limited edition album (number 22 of 50) containing 20 photogravures from original negatives by Peter Henry Emerson. Each plate is accompanied by a guardsheet with descriptive letterpress. There are 14 pages of front matter, including a six page introduction by Emerson on art history and aesthetics. (A second, detached copy of the front matter has been laid in the box in which the album is housed.) Most of the images depict scenes of country life in East Anglia, England, which includes Norfolk, Suffolk, and part of Cambridgeshire. A variety of activities are represented, including farming, fishing, fuelwood gathering, grafting, and poaching. There are also views of sailboats on the North Sea.
