Photographically illustrated book by William Henry Fox Talbot (English, 1800-1877) entitled The Pencil of Nature (London: Longman, Brown, Green & Longmans, 1844). The book consists of 80 pages and is illustrated with 24 leaves of plates. It contains the armorial bookplate of Charles, Marquis of Northampton; handwritten notations signed by Helmut Gernsheim; and is stamped: Gernsheim Collection. Plate information follows.
