Each plate is also accompanied by a leaf of text from Idylls of the King or other poems in facsimile of Tennyson's hand. The frontispiece of the book, which includes a portrait of Alfred Lord Tennyson in monk's garb, is autographed by Tennyson. A dedication of part 1 is dated: Xmas 1874; the second part is dated: May 75. A note handwritten by Helmut Gernsheim, reads: Presented by Mrs. Cameron to Anne Thackeray (Lady Ritchie) and by her daughter, Mrs. Thackeray Fuller to the Gernsheim Collection. It is unique, containing some plates of vol. 1 and others of v. 2, apart from outward differences in the colour of mounts and binding. There is an autograph note by Mrs. Cameron as to the dates of v. 1 and v. 2 on the dedication page.
