Description: |
Photographic album, compiled by Helmut Gernsheim, covered in embossed red morocco leather and fastened with two gilt clasps, containing 100 cartes-de-visite (96 albumen, 4 carbon). The photographs are described by Gernsheim as portraits of “royalty, politicians, and famous English and French personalities.” The cartes date from circa 1850 to the 1880s, with the bulk dating to circa 1860.
