Photograph album with musical box containing 67 photographs (cartes-de-visite), three of which are hand-tinted, and dating to circa 1865. The photographs are portraits of prominent Victorian political, literary and stage personalities, as well as family members. According to Helmut Gernsheim, the music box would begin to play four variations of a French melody when the album was opened. Identified photographers represented in the album, followed by the number of works in parentheses, are: Barrard (1); Herbert Rose Barraud (British, 1845-1896) (1); Adolphe Braun (French, 1811-1877) (1); Caldesi, Blanford & Co.
