Description:

The collection consists of one mounted albumen portrait print, titled “Gladstone looking out of window,” taken by J. Birtles in circa 1885. The image shows W. E. Gladstone leaning out of a window of a railroad passenger car, facing the camera, most likely while he was whistle-stop campaigning.
