Description:

The collection consists of fourteen photographs by Sarah Wilson (American, born 1977). Eight of the photographs are from the project Jasper, Texas: The Healing of a Community, which culminated in an exhibition of the same title, that was organized by Dr. Ricardo Ainslie in collaboration with Wilson and aided in part by a grant from Humanities Texas. The other six photographs are from the series Blind Prom. Item-level information follows.

Prints from the series Blind Prom. For more than ten years, Wilson served as the volunteer photographer for the prom held at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin, Texas. From the artist's statement: "Starting with hair and makeup in the dorms, until the last dance at midnight, I aimed to capture the entire prom ritual." Item-level information follows.
