Photographically illustrated copy of the 14th edition of Memorials of a Quiet Life (London: Daldy, Isbister, 1877), by Augustus J. C. (Augustus John Cuthbert) Hare (1834-1903. Issued in three volumes with a suppliment to volume 3 that contains 56 photographic reproductions of illustrations, including several of Herstmonceaux (spelled Hurstmonceaux throughout the book), and one illustrated portrait of Hare, by Hills & Saunders (British, active 1860s-1920s). The supplementary volume lists a different publication date of 1876. Plate titles follow.
