Description:

Photographic Views of Tenby and Neighbourhood (Chester: Catherall & Prichard, ca. 1868) is a photographically illustrated book containing seventeen albumen prints by Francis Bedford (British, 1815/1816–1894), made between 1862 and ca. 1868. The volume is bound in red cloth with gilt-stamped title and decorative borders; all edges gilt. The photographs are topographical, depicting the seaside resort town of Tenby and its surrounding area in Pembrokeshire, Wales, including elevated views of the town and coastline; coastal features such as caves, cliffs, and beaches; and architectural landmarks including castles, churches, and the Albert Memorial. The volume is part of the Gernsheim Collection, purchased in 1963.
