Photographically illustrated book titled The Archaeology and Monumental Remains of Delhi (Ludhiana: Mission press; Calcutta: Messrs. Thacker, Spink & Co., 1876) by Stephen Carr containing 46 mounted albumen prints. The volume is an author's signed presentation copy to "Private Secretary GW of Madras, 8th June 77", and it includes a tipped-in handwritten letter presenting the book. The books is also stamped: Buckingham Chandos, 1877. At one time, the book was in the possession of Richard Plantagenet Campbell Temple Nugent Brydges Chandos Grenville, Duke of Buckingham and Chandos (1823-1889). Captions (italics) and staff-supplied descriptions follow. |
