Description:

Photographically illustrated book by Annie, Lady Brassey (British, 1839-1887), titled A Cruise in the "Eothen". 1872 (London: Printed for private circulation, 1873), containing thirty-seven mounted albumen prints and a folded map. The Center's copy of the publication is the author's signed presentation copy to "J. [illegible], July 1-1874". The photographs include portraits of Lady Brassey and her fellow travellers, Canadian and American scenery and architecture, and Indians of North America including two Sioux. Published captions follow.
