Description: |
The collection consists of twelve platinum/palladium prints of Sissy Spacek by Thomas Shillea, which were part of a project called Gallery of Famous Americans created by the State Department of International Information Programs. Spacek was one of five “famous Americans” Shillea photographed for this project. All portraits were taken in the fall of 1985 at Spacek’s horse ranch in Beau Valle, Virginia, when she was thirty-five years old. Each image, printed in 2012, is signed by the photographer and contains the formula used to create the platinum/palladium sensitizer, the exposure time in minutes and seconds, paper type, and the date the negative was printed. All images are titled Sissy Spacek, Beau Valle, Va., 1985, followed by a pose number. |
