Description:

The collection consists of 14 photographs by Louie Palu (Canadian, born 1968). Two of the prints (2013:0003:0001-0002) are from the series The Void of War. Items 2013:0003:0003-0006, 2014:0002:0001, and 2014:0003:0001 are from the series The Fighting Season. Items 2022:0030:0001-0005 are from the series Arctic Passage, and 2022:0031:0001 is a poster comemorating the 2019 SXSW/Ransom Center exhibition titled "Louie Palu: Arctic Passage." Also included are a series of conceptual newspapers with photographs and text by Palu several contributing writiers. Newspapers include Mira Mexico, 2012 (2023:0013:0001-0002); Guantánamo: operational security review, 2014 (2023:0013:0003-0004); Federal City, 2017 (2023:0013:0005-0006); and The Mines, 2023 (2023:0013:0007). Additional uncataloged manuscript material includes notes from Palu's interviews with photojournalist David Douglas Duncan, and a composition notebook with mounted images and a handwritten essay about Palu's research at the HRC in 2016 and Duncan's work.
