Description:

The collection consists of photographs of and related to D. H. (David Herbert) Lawrence (British, 1885-1930). Included are approximately 1,400 items, including images of D. H. and Frieda Lawrence, Frieda’s first husband Ernest Weekley and his family, her third husband Angelo Ravagli, her mother Baroness von Richthofen, her daughter Barbara, and other members of her family, as well as Dorothy Brett, Witter Bynner, Willard (Spud) Johnson, Mabel Dodge Luhan, Lady Ottoline Morrell, Padre Edward A. Rickards, and various other people. There are also views of places associated with Lawrence in the English midlands, New South Wales, Oaxaca, and New Mexico, as well as photographic reproductions of paintings by Lawrence. The images in the two albums document Lawrence’s travels in Mexico and Europe as retraced by LaVerne Harrell and L.D. Clark in circa 1960.
