Description: |
Unpublished photographic album, measuring 26 x 31 cm, and containing 50 photographs by an unidentified photographer(s). The photographs, which measure approximately 20 x 25 cm, are all albumen prints; six of the photographs were hand-colored. Subject matter includes temples, volcanoes and other geographical features, tea houses, and people from late 19th century Japan. Nearly all of the photographs have printed captions, though some captions are hand-written. The album is inscribed: Margaret Mae N. Kähler, Buffalo NY, 1886. Print captions follow, with cataloger supplied information in brackets.
