Description:

Thirty-six gelatin silver stereographs, which are accompanied by a published guidebook by the Reverend John Talbot Smith, entitled A Pilgrimage to See the Holy Father Through the Stereoscope (Underwood & Underwood, 1907). The stereographs, which are published by Underwood & Underwood, are contained within a box designed to look like two books. Printed on the spine of the "books" is: "St. Peter's and the Vatican, volume I and II." The stereographs date from 1903 to 1908, and the guidebook was published in 1907. Originally 36 stereographs, stereograph 25 is missing. 964:0170:0001-0035
