This collection consists of images relating to collector, philanthropist, and lawyer Alvin S. Romansky (American,1907-1994): views of lithographers in a Paris workshop and of Le Cabaret du Chat Noir and Historial de Montmartre, as well as portraits of Josef Beuys, George Braques, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Suzanne Valadon and others (987:0023:0001-0030). Thirteen photographs (987:0023:0002, 0005-0008, 0023-0030) are by Hélène Roger-Viollet (French, 1901-1985).

This collection forms a part of the Literary Files Photography Collection is comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures, and generally includes portraits and images by, collected by, of, and/or related to those entities.
