| CDG Books Canada | The firm of CDG Books Canada published the 'For Dummies' series and other educational works in Canada. In 2001-02, as part of the acquisition of Hungry Minds by Wiley, CDG Books Canada was acquired by John Wiley & Sons Canada Ltd and Gage Learning Corporation. Wiley was unable to purchase the whole firm because of Canadian regulatory laws, but became the publisher of 'For Dummies' in Canada. CDG Books Canada was closed down in 2002. | Chilton Publishing Company | Chilton Publishing Company (also known as Chilton Book Company) was founded in Philadelphia around 1904. In 1985 the firm was purchased by Capital Cities, and in 1996 Capital Cities was acquired by Walt Disney Company. In 1997 Disney divided the publishing assets of Chilton and sold them to various buyers. The Magazine Division was acquired by Reed Elsevier, and the Professional Automotive Group by the Hearst Corporation. The Consumer Automotive Group was acquired by Nichols Publishing which sold it on to Thomson Learning in 2003. In 2007 Thomson Learning became Cengage Learning. See chilton.cengage.com. | 2008 |
