Grolier, Inc.Grolier was founded in Boston in 1895 as the Grolier Society. See the account of the firm in Mary Lou Roberts & Paul D. Berger: 'Direct marketing management' (2nd ed., 1998). Grolier was purchased by Hachette in 1988. In 2000 most of the Grolier firm (but not its Franklin Watts and Orchard divisions) was acquired by Scholastic, Inc.
