| Penn Publishing Company | The Penn Publishing Company was founded in Philadelphia in 1889 by Charles C. Shoemaker. The firm went bankrupt in 1941 and its assets were acquired by the Harlem Book Company, which restarted the firm as William Penn Publishing Corporation.
