Contact for Dashiell Hammett   1894-1961

Dashiell Hammett's copyrights have been divided between two entities, the Estate of Dashiell Hammett and the Dashiell Hammett Literary Property Trust. The Estate of Dashiell Hammett controls the rights to the novels, whereas the Dashiell Hammett Literary Property Rights Trust controls all other rights (including correspondence, short stories, plays, etc.). In recent years the literary agents for the estate have been Gelfman Schneider Literary Agents Inc.

WATCH and FOB are run jointly by the Harry Ransom Center and University of Reading Library.
