The collection consists of 141 woodburytypes, which were printed by Goupil & Cie. (French, active 1850-1884), in the serial Galerie Contemporaine: Litteraire, artistique. (Paris: Ludovic Baschet, 1878-1883). The photographs are studio portraits of leading European literary and artistic figures but also art reproductions. Credited photographers whose work is included in the collection follow.
