Description:

The collection is comprised of 473 glass negatives of Corpus Christi, Texas, business interiors made by an unidentified itinerant photographer in the month of February 1934. The negatives were left in the studio of George Tallmadge, a local Corpus Christi photographer. When Tallmadge left Corpus Christi in the early 1940s, he passed the negatives to his friend and fellow photographer Dr. John F. “Doc” McGregor. When McGregor retired in 1976, he donated these negatives, along with his own work, to the Ransom Center.

A descriptive finding aid for the collection is available online (see link below), and digital positives derived from the negatives are available through the Center's Digital Collections portal at https://hrc.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p15878coll86. On-site patrons may also consult modern contact prints, which were made from the 473 negatives, that are contained in notebooks 1-11, Dr. John "Doc" McGregor Collection, in the Photography Reference section of the Reading and Viewing Room.
